Herbal Study Series & Programs

Maria's core three programs are available in a variety of formats ~
• On Demand At-Your-Own Pace Online Any Time • Live Streamed Once Per Year (dates, times, format may vary by year) • Limited In Person Programs

1. The Home Herbalist Series, Intro-Intermediate, taught by Maria
   covers foundational body systems, associated plants ("Materia Medica") and the most common remedy techniques
   9 core classes total, approximately 3 hours each, plus various optional bonus classes
2. The Beyond the Home Herbalist Series, Intro-Intermediate, taught by Maria
   follows a similar format as the first series but with new body systems and health topics, plants, and new remedy making techniques, 9 classes total, approximately 3 hours each, plus various optional bonus classes
3. *The Advanced Series, Intermediate - Advanced Level, taught by Maria with guest instructors, builds on the framework and material from the first two series to cover additional topics around herbalism, preparation for herbal practice, advanced health topics, advanced medicine making, formulation, energetics, and more
   115+ hours of live and/or recorded class time spread across ~20 classes (format varies each year)
   The first two series are prerequisites. Students who have covered similar content in other herb programs elsewhere may be able to take the advanced program with Maria’s pre-approval.
   

*IN 2024 Maria is breaking up the Advanced Series into modules - while the full version is available on-demand, the 2024 live stream will focus on Seasonal Energetics (including plant families, phytochemistry, energetics, taste, and interactive group Materia Medica/single plant deep dives taught by Maria with guests Jiling Lin and Tesia Love). We expect to continue with additional live modules in future years. Prerequisite: a foundational herbal background such as Maria's Home Herbalist Series or similar (basic body systems and common herbs).

All programs allow for a certificate upon completion once homework is completed (most students spend 3-10 hours per class on homework); in person classes (and live stream HHS and BHHS but not Advanced and not on-demand) allow for a “redux” certificate of completion based on attendance and remedy making.
Herbalist Training Program: Students who complete all three series (including the FULL Advanced) plus all homework receive an over-arching Herbalist Certificate. Learn more about certificates, series, policies in these FAQ.

Materials for on-demand series will be emailed within 24 hours of registration.. Access for live stream and in person series will open within 24 hours of the first class (the materials for each class may release within 48 hours after the associated class date).
