In this three-hour class, we’ll dive deep into the physiology of allergic responses, histamine intolerance, and mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS). You’ll learn to differentiate between these conditions, explore key assessment strategies, and develop effective herbal treatment protocols. We’ll cover the most effective botanical approaches for histamine balance, immune modulation, and symptom management—giving you practical, evidence-informed tools to integrate into your practice. Detailed class notes, a resource packet for further study and a materia medica and formulary will be provided after class. 

This class is for intermediate/advanced herb students and clinicians - not beginners. This class is also part of/included in the Advanced Series and 2025 Advanced Health Concerns Series.

Mel Kasting, RH(AHG), is a clinical herbalist and educator. As Clinical Director and Free Clinic Manager at the Eclectic School of Herbal Medicine, she ensures accessible care for clients while mentoring students through their clinical practicums. In her practice, she integrates traditional Western herbalism, clinical nutrition, and somatic practices, emphasizing mental health and connection with plants as key to overall wellness. Through her business, Forest Edge Herbals,, she also provides mentorship and training in clinical skills and relational health for both emerging and experienced practitioners.
